Heat is the silent killer of LED strips. Even high-quality LEDs degrade faster when overheated. Understanding heat management is essential for long-lasting installations.
Why Heat Damages LEDs
LEDs convert electricity into light, but not perfectly. Only 20–40% of input power becomes light; the rest becomes heat. Without proper dissipation, this heat:
· Degrades the phosphor – causing colour shift (white turns yellow or blue)
· Reduces light output – permanent brightness loss
· Shortens lifespan – every 10°C above operating temperature halves LED life
· Weakens adhesive – strips peel and fall
· Can melt solder joints – causing intermittent connections
The 10°C Rule

Quomodo calorem administrare
1. Profila aluminium utere
Aluminium calorem a fasciculo aufert et in aere dissipat. Profilum elige cuius profunditas sufficiens est pro potestate fasciculi.
2. Assicurare la ventilatio
Lasciare spacios aerei intorno al strippu et al driver. Evitare di incapsulare totalmente li strippus sine fluxu aere.
3. Non superare li potentia
Usare un driver ratificatu pro li potentia del strippu, non excedente illo. Li dimmatio reduci anque li calore.
4. Usar 24V in loco de 12V
Pro li samme potentia, li strippus a 24V tracta le dimidie currente—minor generatio de calore.
5. Montar super superficies conductores de calore
Li superficies metallic (aluminio, ferro) dissipa li calore melior quam ligno o plastic.
Signos de supercalorification
· Discoloration – flavescentia o brunescientia del recubrimentum de silicone
· Adhesive failure – peeling or bubbling
· Colour shift – white strips turning yellow or blue
· Dimming – noticeable brightness loss over time
· Visible dark spots – burnt or damaged LEDs
